Harmonies is a calm, pattern building board game where players create a landscape by placing colored tokens to form natural features like forests, rivers, and mountains. Each turn, you’re choosing from a shared pool of resources and deciding where those pieces fit best on your personal board.

The twist is that you’re not just placing pieces for the landscape itself, you’re also trying to complete specific patterns that attract wildlife. Different animals require different arrangements, so your decisions are always a balance between building efficiently and setting up future opportunities.

There’s a strong puzzle element to it: space is limited, and once pieces are placed, they’re locked in. That means planning ahead matters, especially if you want to layer multiple patterns on top of each other for better scoring.
The animal theme really helps tie everything together. It’s fun, approachable, and gives the game a family-friendly feel. I actually picked it up for my 10-year-old cousin for Christmas last year, but it’s one I still genuinely enjoy playing as an adult with my friends at game night.
Overall, Harmonies leans more toward a thoughtful, low pressure experience. It’s easy to pick up, visually satisfying, and focused on smart placement rather than direct competition, with most of the challenge coming from how well you can optimize your own board.
Verdict: Don’t let the lower score fool you. While my review criteria doesn’t seem to favor this game, I think it scores low because it is simple, easy to play, and lacks player interaction. This is not a bad thing! This game is relaxing and quick to play after a long day at work, and is great for families. Highly recommend.
