Review Criteria

This scoring system is an experimental framework I created to evaluate games across a consistent set of categories rather than purely personal preference. Because the categories are weighted toward things like strategic depth, meaningful decisions, player interaction, and skill expression, games built around simplicity, accessibility, relaxation, or heavy randomness may naturally score lower in certain areas, even if they succeed at exactly what they are trying to do.

Like any review system, these criteria come with inherent biases and trade-offs. The goal is not to produce a definitive ranking of games, but rather to provide a consistent framework for evaluating how different aspects of a game’s design contribute to the overall gaming experience.
