Life of the Amazonia draws you straight into the heart of the rainforest, with beautiful components and a world that feels alive with activity.

You’re building your own section of the Amazon rainforest, placing terrain tiles, growing forests, and introducing different species of animals into your ecosystem. The goal is to create the most thriving, balanced habitat by the end of the game, scoring points through biodiversity, terrain features, and how well everything works together.

At its core, it’s a mix of tile laying and engine building. You’re constantly expanding your map while managing resources to bring in new animals, each with their own requirements. Some need specific terrain, others want to be near certain species, so placement really matters. You can’t just throw things down, you have to think about how everything connects.

What I really like is how interconnected it all feels. Adding one piece can open up opportunities…or completely block something you were planning three turns ago. There’s a nice tension between building efficiently and staying flexible, because the board fills up fast and space becomes tight.

I played the Kickstarter edition, and it definitely elevates the experience. The upgraded wooden components and detailed pieces make your rainforest feel like it’s actually coming to life on the table, which just adds to the satisfaction of building it out.

It’s definitely a step up in complexity compared to lighter nature themed games, but it never feels overwhelming. It’s more like a slow, satisfying puzzle where your rainforest grows into something uniquely yours by the end.
